Site Map

Bird Island Trail runs between the South Shore Trail and the South Plateau Trail. It passes by lovely coves and through meadows that bloom with wildflowers in the spring and summer. It passes several small islands, one the home of a large number of nesting bird colonies. Sea otters are in the kelp beds, and seals can on the beaches. Access to China Cove is limited to times when the seal pups are not there, but Gibson Beach is accessible via staircases down the cliffs.
