If you take a trip to San Francisco, be sure to swing by and see the Golden Gate Bridge before you leave. It is an absolutely awe-inspiring sight. If you aren't afraid of heights, you can still walk across the bridge. The area under the bridge overlooks the San Francisco Bay, and on a clear day (which there really don't seem to be many of since there are a lot of foggy days in San Francisco during the course of the year) you can see from the edges of the city to Alcatraz Island to the end of the bridge to the ocean. There is also a lot of shipping traffic that passes under the bridge. If you enjoy watching ships, you can see anything from tiny sailboats to huge tanker and container ships to sightseeing boats.
