17 Mile Drive - Monterey, California

Just a few miles down the coast from the Monterey Bay Aquarium is the 17 Mile Drive. It winds its way along the coast, ending up by the Pebble Beach Golf Course. The route is open from dawn to nearly dusk, and has a number of very beautiful viewpoints throughout.

There are many areas where you can pull over and stop to admire the scenery, and some of the beach areas have picnic areas if you want to spend the day and bring your lunch or dinner. The pictures below are from two different trips, each one with significantly different weather. The weather can get a bit cold and windy, even with the sun shining, so be sure to bring a warm jacket.
